This Sunday, April 28, the streets of Madrid will once again vibrate with the 40,000 people who will participate in the three distances of the Zurich Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Madrid: marathon (42k), half marathon (21k) and 10K.
There will be 30 animation points distributed along the course and will allow all runners to live a unique and different experience in this 2024 marathon.
One of the main favorites to win this year’s edition is Kenyan Reuben Kiprop Kipyego, third in Rotterdam 2023, with 2h03:55. In the women’s category, the main favorites are three Ethiopians: Bontu Bekela Gada (2h23:39), Ayantu Gemechu Abdi (2h24:45) and Kebene Chala (2h26:39).
Tariku Novales, the Spanish marathon record holder, will run the half marathon, a distance in which he has a time of 1h01:46, and in which he will face Kenyan Dominic Chemut Kiptarus, the only athlete registered with a time of less than one hour (59:55).
In the 10 km section, the main contenders for the victory are all Spanish, both in the men’s category with Carlos Mayo, Adam Maijó and Adrián Ben, and in the women’s with Paula Herrero, Marta Galimany, Águeda Marqués and Marta Pérez.

The Zurich Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series of Madrid has three different routes that will cross the capital. The start of all sections will be at Plaza Gregorio Marañón, on Paseo de la Castellana, and the finish line will be at Paseo de Recoletos.
The marathon, the 42-kilometer section, will pass through the main monuments and tourist attractions of the capital city, such as the 4 Torres complex, the Plaza del Callao, the Puerta del SolThe tour includes a visit to the Plaza de la Villa, the Almudena Cathedral and the Prado Museum, as well as part of the Casa de Campo, the largest public park in Madrid.
Regarding the schedule of the Madrid Marathon, the first starting gun will be the 10K race and, an hour later, the half marathon and the marathon will start. The schedules will be as follows:
- 8:00 h – 10K
- 9:00 h – Half Marathon
- 9:00 h – Marathon
In addition, all these sections have a time limit to be traveled or cut-off times:
- 10K: 1h30
- Half Marathon: 3h
- Marathon: 6h
Participants who fail to complete the race within the time limit will be able to board a broom vehicle that will transport them to the finish line.
